kornelimünster
collection with lose ends
From Sunday, November 1, 2015
The exhibition program of the Kunsthaus NRW Kornelimünster offers an insight into North Rhine-Westphalia’s current and future art scene. The Kunsthaus is based on artist supporting programs of the government of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Through purchasing and exhibiting their work, North Rhine-Westphalia supports young artists from this region. The new presentation of the acquired works of the artist picks up some of the extensive collection’s “lose ends”, giving insights into the history of NRW’s art. By beginning with the immediate present and tracing the development of art back to the “Stunde Null”, the ending of the Second World War on midnight May 8, 1945, a selection of some of the 4000 works of the collection reverses the otherwise customary narrative. Parallel to this “insights”, the synchronized show „prospects“ marks the start of a new exhibition series: The Kunsthaus turns the attention to the future, introducing young artists from North Rhine-Westphalia and its neighboring countries. The first exhibition presents artists whose works question and subvert the policy of things that lack an alternative.
